TRAVEL ADVICE

COVID-19:
Updated March 30th, 2020 (12:30 AM GMT)

Guests have concerns about the impact Coronavirus may have on their SailWeek. Above all, the health, safety and wellbeing of our guests is the absolute priority. We are continually assessing our operations in line with updates from governing international and regional health & tourism associations.

At this time all SailWeek events will operate as planned.

SailWeek is an ABTA member. SailWeek takes travel advice from ABTA and the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). Their advice on travel relating to coronavirus can be found here:

Potential changes or cancellations:

At this stage, all trips are set to depart as scheduled, but things can quickly change. Any required changes or cancellations made by SailWeek will be communicated directly to guests.

You have the following three options:

  • Change your SailWeek to a later date this summer for free. This of course is subject to availability and paying difference in price (if any).
  • Postpone and transfer 100% to Travel Credit. It will be valid for 3 years, seasons 2021, 2022 & 2023. Latest to do that is 45 days before the trip.
  • If you cancel, the terms set out in our Terms & Conditions will apply. We recommend not to cancel, instead to postpone, this will mean you have a holiday to look forward to in the future.

We will promptly update you if this position changes.

Your booking is ABTA protected.

COVID-19 FAQ:

Can I change the date of my SailWeek for any reason?

Yes. All changes within the 2020 season are free. Subject to availability and covering the difference in price (if any).

What if I now cannot make any date in the 2020 season or I can't decide what date to change to for the future season?

You will have up to 45 days before your trip to decide if you want to pick a new date in 2020 or postpone and transfer 100% of payments towards a travel credit. Don’t stress, there is no rush to use the credit straight away. Your credit will last three years and can be used in any of the 2021, 2022 and 2023 summer seasons.

What if my SailWeek gets suspended? What are my options?

At this stage all SailWeek events will operate as planned.
If your week is suspended, you will be notified immediately. Your booking will automatically be converted to travel credits. Travel credits are valid for 3 years.

When will I know if my trip has been suspended?

The situation with COVID-19 is changing on a daily basis. If there is a travel ban, border closure or advice against all but essential travel in the destination country and we have no choice but to suspend the trip, we will contact you.
If your trip has been suspended, your booking will automatically be postponed and 100% of payments will be converted to travel credits. Travel credits are valid for 3 years.
Also we suggest you get in touch with your insurers to confirm if they can help cover any other costs you may have incurred as a result of this.

The 2nd installment is due. With Covid-19 travel bans I am not 100% comfortable paying it at the moment. Can I delay the 2nd installment?

The 2nd installment can be paid when the 3rd installment is due with no penalties. The 3rd installment is due 30 days prior to your trip.

Oh, I have already paid the 2nd installment (or full amount in advance). Does that mean I am in a worse case than people who are opting to delay their 2nd installment?

No. As with guests that have opted to delay their 2nd installment, you will be no worse off than them, i.e. if you decide to cancel before the 3rd installment date, 30 days out, the 2nd installment (and 3rd if paid in advance) will be returned.

I am not sure I can come anymore. Can I cancel and get a refund? What are my options?

At this stage, all trips are set to depart as scheduled, but at the moment things can quickly change.

Also please note that your 2nd installment has been extended and is not due until 30 days before departure.

What happens if my flights are cancelled but the trip is still going ahead?

First of all you should contact the airline to confirm the options available to you, including alternative flights and/or refunds. We understand how frustrating this can be. Should you not be able to get to SailWeek you have booked, the cancellation policy found on your booking will apply, but consider picking a new date in 2020 or postponing and transferring 100% of payments towards a travel credit. Travel credits are valid for 3 years (see above).
You should also contact your airline and your insurance company to confirm the compensation options available.
